Summer League Thursday Games

MABL/MSBL players,

I would like to get approximately twenty-two players together on a regular basis to comprise two teams for an informal wood bat only game on Thursdays this summer at Bernalillo High School, beginning this Thursday 7 June 2007. Games will start at 6:00 p.m. (arrival about 5:30 p.m.) and will go until we run out of daylight.

Anyone from either league is welcome with the idea being that the games are relaxed, informal, fun events (catchers will call balls and strikes; fielders will make base calls--an honor system approach), enabling us to get some extra game time in other than Sundays. Players should feel free to rotate positions and/or try positions they have always wanted to play but have not. I would like for this to be a fun, relaxed, no pressure experience, similar to how we would play for the simple enjoyment of it during the summer when we were kids. There is no cost to do this, although should we decide as a group to add an umpire or two, we would all have to kick in for that. I have both catcher's equipment and helmets; we can take turns bringing baseballs (I will bring them this week). While we all travel and have commitments during the summer, I would like for anyone who signs up to expect to be able to play in most of the games.

We will try to play every Thursday for the months of June and July, and maybe early August, barring any field mishaps, which should be minimal at worst. As I said, I would like to begin this Thursday. The first twenty-two enthusiastic e-mails I get will be in.
