Please make sure you are there - if you are unable to make it to the meeting, please contact Vince at 505.252.7776 - do not call Chris as he is not aware of all topics that need to be discussed. Jun 11, 2010, 10:10 am Chris Hinz There is a "Chris Hinz Memorial Fund" set up at Wells Fargo for the benefit of Krystal Hinz (daughter). Krystal also lost her mother a few years ago as well, so any help that the league can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please note on the donation that is from NM MABL-MSBL and name of individual so we can track. Jun 9, 2010, 8:52 am Las Vegas Open results: Another GREAT tournament with baseball weather and lots of teams and fields. 27 fields, 5 different age brackets and 45 teams made up the Las Vegas Open tournament. All the divisions were wood bat except the 18+ MABL divisions. (hint, hint to our league). The 25+ Wood bat had 8 teams in two divisions and was won by the West Coast Heavy Hitters (5-0). The 35+ and over division had 15 teams in it. 6 teams made the playoffs and the LA Matanzas won it all (5-0). In the 45+ and over divisions, there were 12 teams. 8 in the American division and 4 in the National division. The Sonoma Sea Wolves won the 45+ American divisions (4-1), while the Boston Wolfpack won the National Division (4-0). Our Paladin team was in the 55+Wood Bat National Division where there were 5 teams. Fogg City (San Francisco) California, California Cardinals, Salt Lake City Dodgers, and the Tri-Valley Giants were the field. Paladin 55’s first game was against the Salt Lake City Dodgers. The Dodgers threw a tall hard throwing pitcher but the Paladin team scored 19 runs with a hitting barrage and tight defense along with allowing only 4 runs. Ed Klemm of Arizona got the win; Bart Waldman of Seattle got the save. The second game was against Fogg City (Who the Paladin 55’s beat in the Championship game of the 2009 Las Vegas Open). They are a large squad from the San Francisco area. They threw a right handed pitcher and we exploded again to score 14 runs and hold them to 6 for a big first round win. Jim Lopez from Seattle area won this game, with Bart Waldman again getting the save. Our third game was against the California Cardinals where Tom Beck threw what seemed to be 200 pitches in a struggling complete game event. Luckily we had BIG bats again and scored 21 runs and Beck was able to hold them to just 4. So far our defense has been spectacular with all the plays being made and double plays fill every game for us. Our 4th game was against the Tri Valley Giants. Alfredo Romero from Albuquerque and our league threw a gem of a game with a two hit shutout 12-0. Again we hit the ball and played good defense. Romero threw 51 pitches in the entire game!! Awesome results. This put us in the Championship game to be played on Monday after two other teams (The Fogg City Giants and the California Cardinals) played to see who would play us. We started Ed Klemm the winner of game one. We scored 2 and Fogg City scored 2 to tie up the game. Our shortstop/3rd baseman Rich Seiler hit a 3 run homer to put us ahead 5-2. We held Fogg City the rest of the way with relief from Jim Lopez and another run late in the 8th to end the game 6-2 and secure our third straight MSBL Las Vegas Regional tournament Championship. Tom Beck Jul 18, 2009, 3:49 pm SGT. Joe Harris was killed in the line of duty on July 16th. He was a player for the MABL Black Sox in 2002 and 2003 and played in the father/son MABL World Series. Jun 13, 2009, 1:45 pm Paladin55’s The Paladin 55’s led by our own Vince Overfelt (NMSU Grad) have placed themselves as genuine competitors in the MSBL’s National Division 55 Wood Bat. This year could be the year for yet another National Championship for the Paladin 55’s. The final and top divisions of MSBL competition are The National Divisions, they are the pinnacle of amateur baseball divisions. Winning a National Division Championship truly places a team at the top of the heap. After winning the National Championship in the American Division Wood Bat in 2007 @ the Phoenix World Series, Paladin 55’s were eligible to enter the invitation only National Division starting in 2008. 2008 started off with a “Kick-Off Classic” tournament Win in Las Vegas (5-0) and a 3rd in the Memorial weekend Las Vegas Open two months later. This set up a World Series entry into the prestigious National Division at the PHX World Series for 2008 in the mens wood bat division. To test the waters so to speak, Vince loaded the Paladin 55’s up with a 30+ man roster to see how the Paladin 55’s could compete in this new upper division and to test some new players in an already talented lineup. The Sacramento Tribe won the National Division World Series in 2008, as the Paladin 55 team made the playoffs and were defeated by a tough Kansas City team. Paladin 55’s did beat the Champion Sacramento team in regular play but couldn’t get past Kansas City to advance further. 2009 started again with the “Kick Off Classic” in Vegas where the Paladin 55’s made it to the Championship game after defeating a very loaded and talented San Diego Berry’s team 6-2. Paladin 55’s again faced the National Champions Sacramento Tribe and lost again. Two months later over Memorial Weekend at the Las Vegas Open, Paladin 55’s Won the Open by defeating a loaded Fogg City (San Francisco) team in 10 innings for the Championship after defeating the San Antonio Rangers the day before. Now the Paladin 55’s have established themselves as A team to beat to win a National Division tournament in the MSBL. The Paladin 55 roster carries an array of talent spanning the USA from New York to Seattle. New Mexico players, Arizona, Texas, Utah, California, Washington State, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and New York City round out the Paladin 55 team geologically. There are 11 (and soon to be more) New Mexico players on the Paladin 55 team, so New Mexico is where the Paladin 55’s call home. Vince Overfelt, Steve Neece, Alfredo Martinez, John Barnes, Ray Cordova, Greg Ingwaldson, Lee Hunter, Paul Rizzo, Bob Mele, Darrel Creel, and Tom Beck round out the New Mexico roster. Jun 12, 2009, 1:21 am If you plan on playing in Tues and Thurs Night wood bat games make sure you give Vince your $50 for umpires dues. If you play more than 1 game and dont play you may be asked to leave 2nd game. Umpires are only people making money in this wood bat league. Jun 10, 2009, 11:32 am Teams interested in playing in the 2nd Annual Casey Classic please Contact Jason Brinsfield at (505) 450-2566. Labor Day Weekend 18+ Metal Bat Tournament which last year featured teams from Denver, Oklahoma City, Farmington, and Albuquerque.
